Hi Stephany, Thank you so much for the kind words.
On to your question: Your question is rather broadly stated and I am not sure what, specifically, you’d like help with. Is the information you need on soldering? Setting the cabochon? Is it forging/forming the cuff? Do you need to know how to create the bezel? Here is a brief tutorial on forming a cuff: http://jewelrymaking.about.com/od/metalfabricationprojects/ss/cuff-bracelet.htm. Here’s a video by Mike Lloyd on forming too: http://youtu.be/u9fRhsNWiwc. On cab setting: Art Jewelry Magazine has this video on setting: http://youtu.be/BoxGqYEj5I8. File a flat spot on the cuff to allow all of the bezel back to be in contact with the cuff. Everything must be clean and fluxed. I would “sweat Solder” the bezel. That is done by placing many pallions of solder on the back of the bezel and when they reach flow temp., spread the solder with a solder pick. After pickling and clean up, gently sand down the “skin” on the solder, clean and flux it and the cuff. Either use binding wire or arrange a system where the cuff sits on the bezel – turn the piece upside down. On soldering, remember to heat the largest piece of metal first, then heat both the bezel and the part of the cuff where the bezel sits. Look for the “flash” of solder, all around the bezel. If you see gaps, pickle and solder again until all edges of the bezel show solder.
If you would like more specific help, I would be very happy to help. Good luck, this is a great project for you! I like the “ancient beginner” comment, it was very funny. Thank you again and let me know if you need further assistance. Take care and enjoy, Nancy
Hi Nancy first of all I love to watch your videos on jewelry making. I am just getting into the metal work of making jewelry, there is so much that I want to learn, right now I am wanting to make a silver cuff bracelet with a cabochon stone soldered on top. So if you have any suggestions on how to do this I would greatly appreciate it. Also I am an ancient beginner in jewelry silversmithing but I have alot of learning left in me.
Thank you and I hope to hear from you
Stephany
